I know I’m behind on my blogging when it’s a week and a half later and I still haven’t done a proper NYC trip report. Part of which was due to starting my new job last week (employment: yay! new things: overwhelming! but more on that later) But I know it was all I could ask from the trip when it took me a good few days to recover from the fact that when I got home there was a depressing lack of NYC to be found at home.

1. Sunrise on my way out the door to the train. Oog that was early.
2. Running into a grad friend at the airport helped pass the time. He was on his way to Iceland via Boston at the gate next door and was very sporting about the knitting photo shoot.
3. Lofts in SoHo upon proper touristy arrival.
4. The Brooklyn Bridge, on foot.
5. Pizza at Grimaldi’s, which was followed by ice cream at Blue Marble. Future meals only improved. In the best possible sense.
6. View from the bank in Brooklyn on the way to Blue Marble.
7. “I went to NYC and all I got was a chance to frog my knitting on the N train.” Thx 4 th mmrees!
8. This subway tile mosaic brought to you by the Museum of Natural History.
9. SO MANY DINOSAURS RARRRRR this entire exhibit was a cladistics dream. Which is exciting if you’re me!
10. Hayden planetarium, which features an exhibit of scale going from things ranging from “if this tiny speck is the size of a hydrogen atom, the Hayden planetarium is the size of a virus,” to “if this small sphere is the size of the planet Jupiter, the Hayden planetarium is the size of the Oort cloud!” Also exciting if you’re me!
11. Lunch at S’mac which required a serious afternoon of walking and pot of tea to recover from. Yes. Yes it was worth it.
12. The tool without which we would not have discovered said tea room, and many other luxuries, and which facilitated the walking which left R and I groaning and hobbling stiff the next morning. I will never mock the CrackBlackberry again.

13. Hey friend!
14. Hula hoop demo at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park. I need this guy’s job.
15. Everyone who goes to NYC gets this picture, don’t they? I suspect they make it glow, special.
16. Extra snuggly friend.
17. Jeff Koons on the Met rooftop. Best views on the island!
18. “Waiterr, there is too much pepper on my paprikash.”
19. Very exhausting looking at all this culture, you know. Especially when it’s about superheroes.
20-22. MoMA. OH MY LORD DID YOU KNOW THEY HAVE THE REAL WATER LILIES THERE? THE REAL FOR REAL ONES.
23. Absolutely delicious Middle Eastern street food before Mamma Mia. I regret not eating this twice.
24. And then it’s the next day and you’ve stayed up having movie marathon and probably more vodka than is reasonable and trying not to admit you have to get on a plane and leave the fun behind and wake up the next day with “Super Trouper” in your head and a steady resolution to go back.
Next post: will be an FO if I have to beat those little Pomotamus mitts into submission with the dpns they rode in on.
Great photos! Looks like you had a fabulous trip. I’ve only been to New York in February, so it might be nice to go back at a time when it doesn’t suck to be outdoors!
Aww, your recap is way better than my travel recaps. I need to learn these mosaic thingies.
SEE SEE ISN’T NEW YORK GREAT SEE HOWCOME I KEPT SAYING YOU SHOULD GO I WISH I COULD GO RIGHT NOW.
FABulous photos!! What a wonderful trip!
